Information for Candidates

If you are running for office, please contact us at bcdp@bexardemocrats.org as soon as you have appointed a Treasurer. Providing us contact (Web site, Facebook, Twitter, Email, Phone) information also help you to recruit volunteers and support. The candidate filing period will re-open and re-close at dates to be determined by Federal Courts in the spring of 2012. Please also view our 2012 Races page. Thank you!
 
What the Bexar County Democratic Party Does for our Candidates
  • Accept applications for a place on the ballot, November 28 through December 19, 2011, and from a date to be determined until another date to be determined by Federal Courts in 2012
  • Receive application fees and accept petitions, where required
  • Provide free Notary services for candidates' forms
  • Provide copies for a reasonable fee
  • Submit applications to Secretary of State and Bexar County Elections
  • Process challenges to ballot applications
  • Provide campaign materials to voters
  • Promote campaign events that are emailed to calendar@bexardemocrats.org on our bexardemocrats.org calendar
  • Promote campaign events via Facebook, Twitter, and email distribution
  • Provide opportunities for speaking at the monthly County Executive Committee meeting
  • Provide opportunities to contact Precinct Chairs directly
  • Sponsor Petition-Signing Parties to bring Democratic voters to sign candidates' petitions
  • Ensure election integrity with Election Integrity & Voter Protection Committee
  • Appoint Election workers to ensure election integrity

VAN Training

The Workshop will be conducted by the BCDP VAN Committee and is designed to help the people that will be running the Candidates' field programs.

We will focus on Virtual Phone Bank, including, Users, Codes, Scripts, and Survey Questions, as well as 'My Campaign.'

FYI - You will need to have a VAN account in order to participate, so if you need help in obtaining a VAN account please contact Pat Galloway.

Cost: Free, However, donations to defray cost of snacks and venue or contributions to the Bexar County Democratic Party are always welcome.
