On August 18, President Obama announced his intention to nominate Choco González Meza, Bexar County Democratic Chair, to the Commission on Presidential Scholars, a group of eminent private citizens whose task is to select and honor America's most distinguished high school seniors. Referring to Mrs. Meza and to other nominees, the President declared, "I am grateful these accomplished men and women have agreed to join this Administration, and I'm confident they will serve ably in these important roles. I look forward to working with them in the months and years ahead." Congressman Charlie González praised the appointment, saying, "Choco's commitment to education, community service, and civic duty make her an exemplary person to be appointed to the Commission on Presidential Scholars. San Antonio is blessed to have one of its own given this great honor. I commend President Obama for appointing Choco to this esteemed position, and... I know with absolute certitude that Choco will be a true asset to this wonderful program."

The County Executive Committee (CEC) of the Bexar County Democratic Party ushered in a new era at the first CEC monthly meeting chaired by new County Chair Choco G. Meza, by electing a new Treasurer and collecting over $25,000 toward the 2008 Primary debt, among other business.

The County Executive Committee (CEC) of the Bexar County Democratic Party elected Choco Meza as County Chair, by a roll call vote of 106-0 with 2 abstentions. Ms. Meza, currently a Democratic National Committee member, has been actively involved in politics for many years, including service as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Intergovernmental Relations in the US Department of Housing and Urban Development under former San Antonio Mayor Henry Cisneros.

The County Executive Committee (CEC) of the Bexar County Democratic Party voted to approve the recommendation of the Trial Committee to remove County Chair Dan Ramos, by a roll call vote of 104-5. Mr. Ramos did not attend the CEC meeting.

The County Executive Committee of the Bexar County Democratic Party voted to designate its Communications Committee as its official spokesperson, stripping the County Chair of this duty. Recent offensive statements made by the Bexar County Democratic Party Chair Dan Ramos compelled the County Executive Committee to disassociate itself from these statements.... 04/08/2011 1 p.m.

Resolved, That, in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised, 10th Edition, (hereinafter RONR) Chapter 20, page 643, lines 6 to 14, Mr. Ramos be, and hereby is, cited by the BCDP CEC to appear for trial at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 16th in the year 2011 at Metropolitan Community Church, 611 E Myrtle St., San Antonio, TX 78212, to show cause why he should not be removed from the position of Chair of the BCDP.
